Successful Outcome 25

The client had been in state court for first degree murder based on shaken baby syndrome or “SBS”. After her state court appeals were exhausted, we filed a federal habeas corpus petition (2254) on her behalf and presented new medical evidence and testimony. Based on a finding of actual innocence, and after serving nearly ten years in prison the client was released from prison on bond while awaiting final adjudication of her case.  Following a successive post-conviction petition in the Illinois State court, the client’s conviction was reversed and a new trial was ordered.
